REPORTS

A variety of research has been conducted to gain a better understanding of Virginia’s barriers and resources in order to take a strategic and informed approach to identifying and providing services to children, youth, and families who have experienced trauma.

Screening Tool Report

A brief screening tool was developed for service providers across systems to identify victimization and trauma in children, youth, and transitioning young adults.  Over the course of 3 1/2 years, the tool was piloted and evaluated in five Virginia communities. The The Virginia Victimization Screen Pilot and Evaluation Report describes the development and domains of the screening tool (now referred to as the Screening for Experiences and Strengths or SEAS), how the tool and accompanying training were piloted, and the quantitative and qualitative findings relevant to implementation in child, youth, and family serving agencies and organizations.

Listening Tour

In 2018, project staff facilitated listening sessions across the Commonwealth with direct service providers, youth, parents/caregivers, and others with lived experience with multiple systems to obtain input on challenges to service provision and access as well as potential solutions. The Listening Tour Report discusses how the sessions were planned and conducted and the findings and themes that emerged from them.
